Provincial Grand Lodge of Dorset

Is it for me?

reemasons believe in Friendship; Benevolence; Integrity; Respect; Virtue; Self Discipline; Patience and Discretion.

If these characteristics describe how you lead your life or the life you wish to attain, then Freemasonry is for you.

Our fraternity has a wonderful and interesting history, which dates back more than three centuries. We strive to live to the highest moral and social standards, treating others as we would wish to be treated.

We admit members from every ethnic group in the world who are valued on their own merits regardless of factors such as race, national origins or religion. We respect the ideals and beliefs of others and endeavour to behave with kindness and understanding to all creatures.

Charity is fundamental. However, we only raise money from our own members and not from the general public. We give generously to all walks of life throughout this country and the rest of the world.

If you are able to comply with the fundamental qualification of a belief in a Supreme Being and feel that our principles are attractive to you, then you may have much to gain from membership of our Order.

It is usual for candidates to be "mature men of 21 years or over", but in exceptional circumstances candidates between the ages of 18 and 21 can be admitted.

We invite you to look at our FAQs page which should answer many of your questions. We hope that you agree with the sentiments and ideals expressed there and elsewhere on this web site and will take a further step towards joining our fraternity and enjoying freemasonry to the full.

You can download an enquiry form here, or contact us for more information.
